Where to find the Best Croissants in Paris ?
3 of my favorite addresses to get this flaky pleasure
Bonjour, it’s Théo ! 👋
The croissant is one of our biggest symbols, with the Baguette and the Tour Eiffel. You can find them in different shapes, different colors, stuffed with chocolate or raspberry jam.
If you don’t live in France, you’re maybe used to some “croissants” that are far from being the best ones, but even in Paris it’s possible to eat a disappointing croissant…
A good croissant has 3 specificities you need to recognize :
It keeps its shape when you grab it, and doesn’t disintegrate in your hands
It stretches well : you can see the different layers when you break it
It has a fantastic smell of butter and sweetness
A perfect croissant is all about sensations : a buttery smell, a crispy noise, a shiny crust. It’s a pleasure for the ears, the eyes and the mouth.
On the other hand, a bad croissant is dry inside, too soft on the edge, and doesn’t smell anything.
If you want to discover some of the best croissants in Paris, let me share you some of my favorite places to eat this flaky pleasure.
Boulangerie CARTON
6 Bd de Denain, 75010 Paris
CARTON was elected best croissant of Paris a few years ago and it’s definitely a good one !
The shape it’s perfect, the crust is caramelized, and when you cut it in half, you see the honeycomb structure of the dough. The croissant keeps it’s cambered shape even when it’s cut.
Carton also provides a large choice of pastries and you can seat inside with a café to spend a perfect morning.
Boulangerie MAMICHE
45 Rue Condorcet, 75009 Paris / 32 Rue du Château d'Eau, 75010 Paris
Mamiche is one of my favorite places in Paris ! They have two addresses where you can buy breads and pastries. There is no room inside to have a seat, but it really worth the try.
Their croissant is incredible ! It’s a huge one, full of butter and it smells fantastic. If I had to recommend only one croissant, it would be this one. But be careful, it’s really rich, so if you are looking for a light snack, this won’t be the best option.
Boulangerie LIBERTÉ
1 Rue Hippolyte Lebas, 75009 Paris
Liberté has opened multiple places in Paris. Their croissant is maybe less shiny than the others, but it’s a really good one 👌
I particularly recommend their brunch option, available in their shop at the Rue Hippolyte Lebas. You can take a croissant and a hot drink, with an homemade granola and some pancakes or French toasts. It’s a perfect place for Sunday morning ☀️
