Best Bookshops to visit in Paris
Where to find English-speaking books and traditional postcards !
Bonjour, it’s Théo 👋
Autumn is about to start and it’s the season of Pumpkin Spice Latte drinks, black turtlenecks and old books.
If you come to Paris this fall and want to live your Parisian Poet era, you need to know where to stroll around old books and find an old postcard to send to your loved one.
Classic bookshops
We have plenty of bookshops everywhere in Paris. The most famous franchise is called FNAC, you can find it in many malls, at Châtelet or St Lazare for example. It’s a modern bookshop that also sells high tech products, DVDs or music.
But if you want to find books in English, you need to investigate a little bit more.
Librairie Jousseaume
45-46-47 Gal Vivienne, 75002 Paris
This beautiful bookshop is one of the cutest you will find in Paris. They have old postcards, used books at an affordable price, and even an English books section.
It’s located in the Galerie Vivienne, a covered street in the 2nd arrondissement which is a perfect place to take pictures like a Parisian poet. You can even find a wine shop in this street, and it’s just next to the BNF Richelieu, a national library with a magnificent oval room.
Librairie Galignani
224 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris
Galignani is one of the most famous bookshops in Paris, located just near the Jardin des Tuileries and the Louvre Museum.
You can feel the vibe of Autumn inside, with a traditional woody decor, and smell the old books.
It’s a beautiful place even just to have a walk inside and meditate around all the knowledge you can find here.
Smith&Son
248 Rue de Rivoli, 75001 Paris
If you want to find books in English during your trip, this is YOUR place.
Smith&Son is one of my favorite bookshops, where you will find all the recent books in English, and a large selection of travel guides, magazines and cooking books.
It’s perfect to have a souvenir of your trip by purchasing a book about French fashion or about our traditional dishes you can cook at home.
It’s located just near Galignani and the Louvre, in the beautiful Rue de Rivoli, an unmissable street to walk in if you come to Paris.
And the best for the end : they have a cute British café upstairs where you can have a cup of tea while reading your new book.
